Sending positive signals in investment

This thematic fund is based on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim of so-called “impact investments” is to achieve positive social and environmental results in addition to a financial return.

BFI Positive Impact Select invests in the most suitable impact funds within the framework of the Baloise fund selection process according to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (see illustration). The portfolio is around 55 per cent invested in equity funds and 45 per cent in bond funds. Investments are made globally, both in industrialised nations and emerging markets. Fund selection is carried out by the asset management company Baloise Asset Management, ensuring investment in promising target funds on the basis of a proven selection process. The selection and weighting of the target funds plays a key role in the investment’s success.

BFI Positive Impact Select considers both funds that specialise in individual impact themes and those that are dedicated to impact investment overall. This approach enables Baloise Asset Management to cover as many impact topics as possible and take all 17 UN goals into account. Only funds with the highest impact values in their respective special theme in comparison with their competitors are considered.

This fund invests primarily in the areas of climate change, education, energy transition, food supply, gender issues, health and ecology (e.g. the state of the world’s oceans, water supply).

This investment fund complies with the Baloise Responsible Investment Policy. Further information

The fund selection process

Positive investment impact in terms of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues is measured on the basis of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Baloise Asset Management takes advantage of the expertise of the globally active financial company MSCI, which analyses the investment impact at company level and reports it at fund level.

Baloise Asset Management analyses the information on the relevant investment funds. When it comes to selecting target funds, the focus is on a balanced distribution considering ESG issues with a view to achieving not only a financial return but also a positive impact in the areas of environment, social affairs and good corporate governance.
