About us

Beware of fake SMS and emails (phishing).

Fraudsters are currently trying to falsify emails and SMS messages—so-called phishing—to obtain your personal data such as passwords or account information. We explain how to reliably recognize such messages, respond correctly, and protect yourself.

Important to know

Baloise will never ask you by email to disclose or confirm insurance or pension products, account details, or other personal data online. If you receive such an email, it could be a phishing attempt. Please do not click on any links or provide any personal information.

As a customer, you do not need to do anything as a result of the merger. Your details are stored with us.

Recognize phishing
Untrustworthy senders

Check the sender’s email address. In phishing emails, the displayed sender name often looks trustworthy, but the email address itself usually does not.

Imposed urgency

If the email (or phone call) contains threats or pressure, you should immediately delete the message or end the call.

False pretext

If the content of the message does not make sense, for example a shipping confirmation when you haven’t ordered anything: delete it.

Hidden links

Hover your mouse over links in the email without clicking them. This way, you can see the true destination address at the bottom left. Also, watch out for typos in the embedded web address (URL).

Poor spelling

Check the email for spelling errors. Fake messages often contain more or less noticeable mistakes. However, be aware that texts are increasingly professionally written, so flawless spelling is not a guarantee of safety.

Request for sensitive data

Banks and reputable providers should never ask you by email or phone to disclose your PIN, TAN, or other confidential information – this is an important security rule. If this happens, it is a clear phishing attempt.

How to recognize and avoid phishing
What you should do
  • Never follow links from emails, SMS messages, etc., or from other websites.
  • Never disclose sensitive data if requested by email or SMS.
  • Use only our official communication channels: website, app, chatbot or hotline.
  • Always type “baloise.ch” directly into your browser’s address bar.
  • Report suspicious messages.
What to avoid
  • Do not open any links or attachments.
  • Do not share sensitive or personal data.
  • Do not download or run any files.
  • Do not respond under pressure.
  • Do not reply to SMS messages.
Note: Self-service contact details

We ask customers with incomplete contact details to update them through an automated process. This only concerns address, email, or phone number, not sensitive data. The self-service submission is carried out via an encrypted connection.

We never ask you to disclose or confirm sensitive data such as bank details or information about insurance and pension products online. Such a request could be a phishing attempt.

Have you received an email or SMS that seems suspicious? Do not respond to the suspicious message and forward it to us directly for verification.
